Suggestion - More type 30 information

Postby cwwalker » Wed May 13, 2009 9:49 am

I've just loaded the software and love it. I hope you end up doing all SMF records. For my use, I'd like to see the type 30, subtypes 2, 3, and 6 added. These are so similar to the subtype 4, that I'm sure they'll be easy to implement. The subtype 6 is for system address spaces, and the 2 & 3 are for intervals. Thanks.

Hi,

EasySMF does process the 2, 3 and 6 records. They are used for the Job Status During Interval and the Job Profile reports. The Job Status During Interval report uses them to determine the status of the jobs (started, ended, running or complete) and the actual resources used in the selected time interval. The Job Profile report shows activity over time - broken down by steps where applicable.

They are not included in the Job Completions reports because since they are interval records they can't really be meaningfully compared to the completion records.

Thanks so much. I hadn't realized what that report was. Is it possible to get every interval for a job with a time stamp? I do performance tuning on system address spaces and look at the difference between the intervals to understand what is happening.

It's not currently possible, but I will look into adding it as a feature.
