Export Data problems

Postby DebbieMitchell » Fri Jul 17, 2009 12:27 am

I use both a desktop computer and a laptop. I am trying to maintain all data on both machines so I have it available whether I'm at home or on the road. I have tried twice to use the Export Data function and am unable to get anything other than type 14 records. The first time I selected a subset of record types and the second time I used 'select all'. When I go to load the data to the other machine I don't have anything other than type 14 records. Am I doing something wrong or is this feature not fully functional yet?

The function should work. Did you let the load of the exported data finish, or did you cancel it when it looked like only type 14 records?

The exported data doesn't have all the records mixed like the original SMF file. Each record type is written to the file in turn so if type 14 is the lowest number you will see all the type 14 records first, then the next type e.g. 15 and so on.

Could that explain what you are seeing?

I can't be sure about the first time, but I think I let it finish. I know I canceled the 2nd attempt. I retried loading that data a few minutes ago and received an error. I sent that error report as prompted by the program.

I received the error report, thanks. It looks like maybe there is a problem with the compression/decompression of the exported data. I will investigate further.
