EasySMF Events - Splunk Dashboards for z/OS
EasySMF:Events provides a set of Splunk dashboards using SMF data to show you the status of your z/OS systems.
You can choose how SMF data is sent to Splunk:
- Real time, using the z/OS SMF Real Time Interface
- Using z/OS batch jobs
- Process data off-mainframe, accessing data via z/OSMF or another download process
Reports include:
Overview Reports
System Status
An overview of a system. Shows:
- MVS CPU Busy
- zIIP and CP usage by jobname
- Transactions per second for each service class
- MSU consumed by each service class
- Delays reported by Workload Manager
MVS CPU Busy
See MVS CPU Busy information for each of your systems.
CPU by LPAR
Shows the CPU consumption of each LPAR.
CPU by Jobname
Shows CPU consumption grouped by job name.
Workload Manager reports
WLM Overview
An overview of Workload Manager service classes. Shows MSU consumed by importance, and an overview of the service classes for each importance level.
Service Class Detail
Detailed information for a service class. For each service class period:
- Performance Index
- Velocity
- MSU consumerd
- Transactions per second
- Average response time
- Delays reported by Workload Manager
CPU by Service and Report Class
Shows CPU consumption grouped by service class or report class.
Job Reports
Job History
See the history for a job to show any unusual elapsed times or increase in resource consumption.
Job Detail
See the details of a job, including
- CPU usage over time by step
- Job and step completions
- Dataset and file usage

Dataset Activity
View information about dataset updates and usage
TCP/IP
TCP/IP Connections by Location
TCP/IP connections, with location information where available.
TN3270 Connections
See the IP addresses associated with TN3270 LUs.
